Veteran skydivers share their Everest Skydive experience

On 20th October 2010, Explore Himalaya met up with veteran skydivers Roger Hoe from England and Peter Rotelle from Germany who had just arrived from Lukla after skydiving solo from 28,000 feet at Shyangboche drop zone. Roger Hoe, who turns 65 in a month’s time, holds the distinction for being the oldest skydiver to jump solo from 28,000 feet. Face to Face with Klaus Leo Michael Gachter

Klaus Leo Michael Gachter from United States is no stranger to Nepal. He has been to Nepal several times and had visited Khumbu thirty years for the rebuilding of the Tengboche Monastery. According to him he was amazed to find changes in Khumbu since his last visit. Klaus, who is in his 70s, jumped tandem from a height of 21,000 feet & 27,000 feet during the recently held Everest Skydive event  at Shyangboche drop zone. Everest Skydive 2010 Update

Today’s action saw skydivers Peter Rottele (Germany), Roger Hoe(UK), Ryan Jackson(UK) and Kevin Hardwick(UK) freefalling solo from 28,000 feet.Roger, who is 65 years old, became the oldest skydiver to jump solo from this height. Explore Himalaya congratulates him for this incredible feat.

After setting a new skydiving record at Shyangboche, Nick Leventis flew back to Kathmandu. Everest Skydive 2010 Update: NEW RECORD- Skydivers Jump from 30,000 feet!

After three days of bad weather, the sky at Shyangboche finally cleared up today. Since early morning there was hectic activity at the drop zone as ESD crew and group members  prepared for the jumps. Between 8 to 9 AM (local time) the PC-6 aircraft took off.
